What to Expect
Full Description
The Small Carpathians begin just outside Bratislava, and within an hour the landscape turns into vineyards, small towns and forested hills. This private day trip follows that landscape through five places, each with its own character.
We start with wine: Pezinok and Modra are the historic heart of the Small Carpathian wine region. From there the day moves to castles — the furnished Renaissance halls of Červený Kameň and Smolenice Castle in its forest setting.
We finish in Trnava, a university town with a compact historic centre. The order can be adjusted to suit the season and what your group enjoys most.
Wine towns, castles and a historic city — at your pace.
The Route
The historic heart of Small Carpathian wine
Pezinok is one of the oldest wine towns in the region.
We walk through the historic centre and the old wine lanes.
It is an easy, pleasant first stop of the day.
A small town with two old traditions
Modra is known for wine and for its ceramics tradition.
The town centre is small and walkable, with a calm, local atmosphere.
We take our time here before heading on to the castle.
A Renaissance castle that is fully furnished
Červený Kameň is one of the best preserved castles in Slovakia.
It is a Renaissance castle with furnished interiors — period rooms, halls and collections that show how the nobility lived.
The castle stands in the forest, so the visit combines interiors with a pleasant walk.
A castle in the forest below the Carpathians
Smolenice Castle stands on the edge of the Small Carpathians, surrounded by forest.
Its white towers and quiet setting make it one of the most photographed places on this route.
The stop is about the setting as much as the building.
A university town with a compact historic centre
Trnava is one of the oldest and most important historic towns in Slovakia.
Its centre is compact and walkable, with churches, squares and the old university buildings.
It is a good place to end the day, with time for a coffee or a late lunch.
Flexible by design
This trip is not designed as a race from one monument to the next.
You travel in a small private group, so the day can stay flexible and relaxed. We are happy to recommend local food, the best places for photographs, or adjust short stops according to the interests of the group and the time available.
Your vehicle. Your group. Your day.
