This private day trip crosses western and central Slovakia. We begin with the historic towns of Trnava and Nitra, then continue into the hills for the main highlight of the day — Banská Štiavnica.
Banská Štiavnica is a former silver and gold mining town, and its whole historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The town is built into the hills, so the streets, squares and old mining buildings sit on different levels with views opening at every turn.
This is a longer day and deliberately so — the drive is part of it, and Banská Štiavnica deserves the time. We plan the day so you arrive with enough time to walk, explore and simply enjoy being there.
A UNESCO mining town — and the journey to it.
