Step away from the best-known tourist trails and discover Slovakia through its castles, its stories and its landscape.
On this private full-day trip you will visit four different historic places. Each one offers a different atmosphere — from an elegant noble residence through legendary castle ruins to one of the most important castles in Slovakia.
The trip is designed at a relaxed pace. These are not quick photo stops. You will have time to walk, take in the views, take photographs and rest a little.

The Route
Elegant manor house and historic park
The first stop is Hlohovec.
We will visit the grounds of Hlohovec Manor and its adjoining historic park. It is a peaceful start to the day and a good introduction to the history of the noble residences of western Slovakia.
After a short walk we continue towards one of the best-known castle stories in the country.
Castle ruins and a noblewoman's legend
Čachtice Castle is among the best-known Slovak castle ruins.
It is inseparable from the name of Elizabeth Báthory, a Hungarian noblewoman whose life became bound up with a great many stories and legends over the centuries.
We will walk up to the castle ruins, see the surviving parts of the fortifications and enjoy the views over the surrounding countryside. This is a place where history meets legend.
A fortress on a steep rock above the village
The next stop is Beckov.
Even as you arrive you will see the mighty ruins of the castle standing on a steep rock crag high above the village. Walk among the medieval walls, discover the individual parts of the fortress and enjoy one of the most photogenic castle views on the route.
Beckov is one of the places that best shows how the natural landscape helped to protect medieval castles.
Monumental castle and historic old town
The last main stop is Trenčín.
Above the town towers the monumental Trenčín Castle, one of the most striking historic landmarks in Slovakia. During your visit you will get to know the castle complex, its courtyards, its towers and the stories connected with important figures of the region. From the castle hill a beautiful view opens over the town and the Váh valley.
After the castle there will also be time for the historic centre of Trenčín. You can walk through the square, have a coffee or lunch, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the town at your own pace.
